The City Hall of Stockholm can only be visited with a guided tour. Since the City Hall is open only when a tour is available, there are no general opening hours. Guided tours are available daily all year round, except on some public holidays and special events.
The admission to guided tours of the City Hall has two different price levels, depending on the season. The guided tour takes approximately 45 minutes. One adult ticket in December 2013 is 70SEK.

VasaMuseet. The Vasa is the world’s only surviving 17th century ship. She sank on her maiden voyage on 10 August 1628, without even having sailed beyound Stockholm harbor.
The ship was rediscovered and raised in 1961, after having rested on the sea floor for 333 years. With more than 95 percent of the original structure and incredibly beautiful ornamentation intact, the Vasa provides a unique insight into the early 17th century.

Ericsson Globe. From the top, 130 meters above sea level, you enjoy an unbeatable view of Stockholm.  SkyView consists of two glass gondolas, that each can hold 16 people. The ride takes about 20 minutes. SkyView is located in the largest event area in the Nordic region – the Globe Area.

From Stockholm to Uppsala and Gripsholm Castle, Suedia 2013

Not my first time in Stockholm so I intend to extend my trip outside the city this time, this is what I’m thinking about ..

Uppsala by car/train

By car: 70km / 1 hour
By train: taking 40 minutes and costing 108 SEK (84 SEK if bought from the vending machines using your credit card). Find more
The Uppsala tourist information office is found at Kungsgatan 59, centrally located in the Svava area and near Uppsala resecentrum (Uppsala Travel Center).

Explore:

• the Uppsala Cathedral, which is the oldest Gothic cathedral in the Nordic region. Construction on the cathedral began around 1270, with consecration taking place in 1435. The church towers we added at a later time period. Admission is free. The cathedral is open every day from 8 am until 6 pm.
• the Uppsala Castle where many crucial events in Swedish history took place
• Uppsala University was established in 1477, making it the oldest university in Scandinavia.

In the same area with the historical buildings that we are going to visit, there is a nice place to eat lunch, Meza, address Östra Ågatan 11. Lebanese food in a cozy and relaxed atmosphere. Many vegetarian and vegan options (menu).


Gripsholm Castle. On the shores of Lake Mälaren, Gripsholm Castle towers powerfully and fairytale-like over the idyllic small town of Mariefred in Södermanland, approximately 70 km from Stockholm.
Gripsholm is known as Gustav Vasa’s castle, as it was he who built the castle here in 1537.
Take time to wander slowly through the many rooms and winding passages. Gripsholm Castle is filled with over four-hundred years of history.
At Gripsholm you can take a royal stroll around the romantic castle grounds or meet the royal deer at the Hjorthagen nature reserve.

A guided tour of the castle in English is given during reuglar opening hours, and included in the entrance fee and cannot be booked in advanced. The guided tour takes approximately 45 minutes.

From Stockholm to other countrys

Helsinki, Finland by boat

Viking Line
Two nights on board and one day ashore. Evening departure from Stockholm at 4.30 pm, arrive in Helsinki at 10.10 am. Depart from Helsinki 5.30 pm and arrive back in Stockholm at 10.00 am.
Choosing this cruise you get a full day in Helsinki and you don't have to pay for a hotel in Helsinki because you are going to sleep on board, on a cabin of your choose. But if you don't want to sleep you can enjoy some boat fun at the restaurants, pubs, shopping area or SPA.
